i’ve been very kindly invited to participate a creative project called the Minted 50, and today i’m sharing my project and a little bit of my creative process with you. it was so much fun to actually get my hands dirty, so to speak and actually make something close to ‘art’ — i created this collage (above) using photographs i took and ephemera i collected whilst on holiday in london. The Minted 50 is a series of 50 creative projects over 50 consecutive days by 50 artists and creatives. To develop the projects, minted has partnered with Van’s General Store, the creative agency headed by Scott Carlson and Liev Schreiber, and VGS’s longtime friend and collaborator Andy Spade, creative leader and co-founder of Partners & Spade — an impressive line-up to be sure. not officially calling myself an artist, i was most honored to be included in the minted 50!
so, what’s the minted 50? Every day features a new creative challenge or ‘prompt’ led by a member of minted’s artist community and other creative leaders. Each project is designed to encourage everyday acts of creativity and collaboration, and anyone can participate. and, at the end of 50 days, all of the projects will be exhibited at the gallery of Van’s General Store in New York City, and auctioned off to benefit RxArt, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help children heal through the extraordinary power of visual art.
and what’s also very cool, is minted is inviting people to follow along and participate in the minted 50 design challenges! Watch the videos, learn more about the projects, and download instructions on how to join in at the minted 50. it was so much fun to make something tactile, and memorable from my trip. i hope you’ll jump in and make something that means something to you, too!
