as i mentioned last week, i’ve been really missing having a dining room. i have a kind of makeshift one in the living area, and i have an outdoor dining area which is used a lot living at the beach, but i’ve been toying with the idea of turning the office/guest room into a real live usable dining room. i was deep into it this weekend, searching the internet for looks i love and furniture pieces that might work. i think a round table would work best in the very square room so i was on the hunt for the perfect table and plan on using a mix of my vintage dining chairs around it. i think i’ll need a round woven jute rug of some kind, too and then a very large paper pendant for over the middle of the table. it’s such a pretty little room with lots of windows and french doors to the patio and i really just don’t use it enough as a guest room, and who am i kidding with a desk? i’m a laptop on the sofa girl the majority of the time. the ‘desk’ just ends up a catch-all for paperwork and books. so i think a credenza or a rustic bench of some type would be nice under the large window — to display my vintage serving ware, a few collectibles, some plants or foraged branches — and maybe a mirror with a wee bar tray. anyway, here are some of the methods to my madness. i’m looking to create an eclectic vintage-modern mix, pretty minimal and very monochromatic with lots of white and wood. so as always, i’m inspired by some of leanne ford’s projects (we share a love of white and the quirky aesthetic!). i’ll keep you posted as to what i end up doing, but in the meantime, consider this a kind of mood board for inspiring looks i like but don’t take it all too literally — there are always tweaks. that’s the fun part — making it your own.
